Road Safety Leader
David is currently with the Al Ain Municipality in Abu Dhabi, UAE leading on road safety for the Al Ain Region of the emirate (an area approximately the size of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset). Responsibilities include setting up RSA and collision investigation and prevention, data analysis, ETP, research and policy. Also attending national working committees on these subjects such as 2020 Road Safety Strategy and Speed Management Strategy.
David is an experienced road safety engineer who has worked in both the public and private sectors. David has investigated a wide range of locations with accident problems such as high-speed rural routes in Lincolnshire, wide area urban child pedestrian casualty problems in Yeovil and cycle accident cluster sites in the historic core of Cambridge.
As a road safety audit team leader meeting international standards including UK, David has led audit teams on a wide range of road safety audits numbering several thousand. These range from major schemes in the Middle East, junctions accessing residential developments to town bypasses, the widening of the M25 London Orbital, a new motorway in Cyprus and more unusual schemes such as the conversion of large urban grade separated junctions to a series of signalised junctions in order to free up development space.
